Max Floyd has come to be known as one of the most enduring figures in Kansas City's entertainment history. As one of radio's most influential pioneers, Max's contributions were recognized and celebrated in 1995 when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. He, along with a handful of other visionaries, virtually transformed the concepts of entertainment and lifestyle in several major US cities- among them Denver, Chicago, San Antonio, and Kansas City.
Max's influence was also felt on an international scale as he and other AFN (Armed Forces Network) personalities stationed in Germany during the early 1960's delivered American entertainment and culture via the airwaves to the ideologically suppressed peoples of East Germany at the time that the Berlin Wall was erected.
The political and sociological effects that resulted from this activity are immeasurable, save only to say that the seeds that these men planted so long ago did finally reach maturity in 1990 with the destruction of the Berlin Wall- and the dawn of a new geo-political era.
To tell Max Floyd's story is to tell the story of Rock and Roll and it's immense impact on world culture. Broadcasting is the only career Max has ever known- it has been his great love, his passion, his art form. His distinctive voice and style have been heard on the airwaves for over 50 years, and he continues to entertain listeners to this day. This is the story of his remarkable life...
